You can take a fun break from your other adventures to go fishing in the many bodies of water throughout Adventure Academy at any time. You can catch a wide variety of fish and other sea creatures, plus items like shells, seaweed, leaves, a treasure chest, a message in a bottle, and more. Below is all you need to know.

What do I need before I can fish?
You will need a fishing rod before you can go fishing.
Fishing rods can be purchased at a few shops. You can get one at Amelie’s Armoire, located in the Marketplace, or at Reel Time, located on the Pier (your Avatar needs to be at least at Level 10 to visit the Pier).
You can also try buying a fishing rod from other players in the Grand Market, but keep in mind that the price for a rod there will vary, since the player selling the item can set their own asking price.
Where is my fishing rod?
If you already purchased a fishing rod, you will find it in your backpack in the Accessories category and Hand subcategory.
Click on the fishing rod tile and then on the blue Equip button to give your Avatar the fishing rod.
Where can I fish?
You can fish in any body of water (ocean, cove, lake, pond, etc.) throughout Adventure Academy. Most fishing spots are located in the Neighborhood, Marketplace, Pier, Clubhouse, and Campgrounds. You’ll catch the biggest fish only in the deeper parts of the ocean at the end of the Pier (but your Avatar has to be at least at Level 10 before you can access the Pier).
Deep Ocean Fishing
The blue circles on the following overhead view of the Pier shows all the Deep Sea Fishing spots. As you can see, they are on all sides of the Aquarium, but there are more on the right side as you face the Aquarium and behind the Aquarium. See what you can catch below...
Shallow Ocean Fishing
You’ll get most of your big catches from the end of the Pier and Jetty, but there are even more things to catch or harvest from the beach.
The blue circles on the following overhead view of the Pier and beach shows all the Shallow Water Fishing spots. As you can see, they are spread out on both sides of the Pier, with clusters of fishing spots in the two coves on each end of the map. See what you can catch below...
From these shallow ocean spots, you will be able to catch:
- Driftwood
- Old Broken Boot
- Hermit Crab
- Sea Snail
- Sea Cucumber
- Sea Slug
- Crab
- Clam
- Shrimp
- Conch Shell
- Triggerfish
- Angelfish
- Sea Star

- And more...
How do I fish?
- Go to any body of water in Adventure Academy and look into the water for groups of fish swimming around (they may look like little shadows).
- Equip your Avatar with the fishing rod that should be in your backpack, unless you have already taken it out (see Where is my fishing rod? above).
- Click or tap a group of fish.
- A Cast Meter will appear.
- The meter on top will quickly move between left (red) and right (green).
- This will determine how well your cast will be.
- Your cast will be best if you time it so that the meter is fully green (or close to full).
- It usually takes some practice to get really good at casting. But don’t worry, you can quickly and easily cast again and again to get used to it.
- Click/tap the Fishing Rod icon to cast your line.
- After completing the cast, the Fishing Pole icon will be replaced with a Fishing Bobber icon.
- When you see your bobber sink in the water–which means something’s on the other end of your line–click or tap on the Fishing Bobber icon!
- If you wait too long or miss your chance, whatever’s caught on your line will escape, and you’ll need to try again.
- A Fishing Reel icon will appear with a Tension Meter once something is on your line.
- Click or tap to hold down and release the Fishing Reel icon as needed, while paying close attention to the Tension Meter.
- Holding down the Fishing Reel icon will add tension and reel in the line.
- Releasing the Fishing Reel icon will release tension.
- Try to keep the Fish icon in the Tension Meter in the green zone.
- If it hits the red sections, your fishing line will break and the fish will get away.
- If it hits the red sections, your fishing line will break and the fish will get away.

After successfully making a catch with your fishing rod, the fish or other item will go to your Inventory. Here’s an example of what your Inventory may look like if you catch a Golden Koi in one of the ponds:
What can I catch by fishing?
In general, fishing will allow you to catch fish and other aquatic creatures, nature (like leaves, sticks and seaweed), and some more unexpected items like an old boot, a message in a bottle, and a treasure chest. What you may catch will depend on where you are fishing (and your luck or skill).
